چکیده

AbstructOne-dimensional parallel arrays of Josephson junctions have the ability to perform as oscillators tunable hy magnetic flux. We have designed and tested an array impedance matched to a detector junction load. The amplitude and frequency of the array are controlled by the independent variables of magnetic field and current bias. We report on the array's characteristics and compare them to the results predicted by nonlinear simulations and a linear circuit model. This confirms the accuracy of the circuit model, both for impedance matching and in describing the dynamics of the array, even in a multiplefrequency regime.

Spectral linewidths of Josephson oscillators.

We show that the linewidth of a Josephson flux-flow oscillator has the same functional dependence on temperature, static, and dynamic resistances as the ones of Josephson single-fluxon oscillators and small Josephson junctions. This suggests a universal formula for the linewidth of Josephson oscillators.

Solitons and Long Josephson Junctions

Magnetic flux quanta, of value h/2e, in long Josephson junctions behave as (quasi) solitons. Fluxon dynamical states are well described by a perturbed sine-Gordon equation model, with boundary conditions determined by the junction geometry and by externally applied magnetic fields, and they give rise to readily measurable physical phenomena, such as step structure in current-voltage characteris...

Ballistic Four-Terminal Josephson Junction: Bistable States and Magnetic Flux Transfer

The macroscopic quantum interference effects in ballistic Josephson microstructures are investigated. The studied system consists of four bulk superconductors (terminals) which are weakly coupled through the mesoscopic rectangular normal metal (two dimensional electron gas). We show that nonlocal electrodynamics of ballistic systems leads to specific current-phase relations for the mesoscopic m...

Row-switched states in two-dimensional underdamped Josephson junction arrays

When magnetic flux moves across layered or granular superconductor structures, the passage of vortices can take place along channels which develop finite voltage, while the rest of the material remains in the zero-voltage state. We present analytical studies of an example of such mixed dynamics: the row-switched (RS) states in underdamped two-dimensional Josephson arrays, driven by a uniform DC...
